Just to clarify, I wasn't talking about a minimal version of Linux.
There's no 5 floppy Debian distribution.  But you can start with 5
floppies and from there download everything else you need for a complete
install.  So, if you have a local network with all the package archives
on another machine, you can quickly (as quickly as your local network
will allow) do a complete (many Gigs) Debian install on machines that
only have floppies.
