Fred,

Here is why I went through the time to play DVD's on Linux, I don't use
MS Windows at all, and it's really hard to carry my surround sound audio
system and my 40" TV on air planes when I travel.

Sure I could purchase an extra portable DVD player to take with my but
why should I, I always travel with my laptop for work reasons. Why add
another piece of hardware that can be broken, lost or stolen and adds to
the weight of what I carry? Since my laptop is perfectly capable of
playing back a DVD why should I not use it?

Last year I spent 20 weeks on the road, just because I use only Linux
should I not enjoy my movie collection?

Cheers,

David
