The most natural sounding voice I have heard is from Cepstral.
(www.cepstral.com)  I heard about them when they demoed a high quality
text-to-speech converter for the linux pda.  Unfortunately, they have never
released it.  There is a linux desktop version tho for only $30.   You can
listen to demos on line.  The downloadable demo only plays a single
sentence.
