Hi TR,

I have been doing OTA recording right now with an MIT MDP-120 pci
card. It does NOT provide other nice TIVO features like pause, rewind
live, dual channel, or record from guide, etc. There's a linux driver in
the works, but right now the only option is to record in windows and watch
in linux. The only linux solution for HD is at www.pchdtv.com.

For cable, I hear it is possible with Comcast digital cable boxes to
stream HD over firewire to a pc. I will be trying this out myself in the
next month or so. I have done others things with firewire in linux and
don't anticipate a problem.

Both these topics have been addressed on slashdot, and of course the
ever popular www.avsforum.com.

My setup will work fine after July, 2005 - if I don't upgrade the
Windows' software! The pchdtv card HD-3000 card will become illegal then.

P.S. I use bittorrent all the time for hard to get movies or shows I miss.
It provides me much more satisfaction with my home theatre setup then if I
depended solely upon the g.d. networks. I also don't give a ratsass if
anyone thinks it's wrong or illegal.
