Can you elaborate?  I have heard and read a great deal about Asus not
wanting to support Linux.

I personally have had *very* bad experiences with quite a few VIA
chipsets, which the VT8237 is.  I would look for a SiS or Intel
chipset.  The Asus P4P800-Deluxe is a nice board.
