I thought they did include a few ports?
Look at the upper-left corner. There is a Silicon Image chip just above
and slightly to the right of the AMD8111 and two SATA ports (alongside a
IEEE1394) just below the floppy (to the right of the parallel ATA).

I just called Sun. These things actually start at $1,499!
Considering the "bottom" expansion and the CPU daughtercard connector, I
might buy one of these suckers.
The only kicker is the standard "Quadro" video. I need to see if I can
buy it without it. Otherwise the cheap NV17 (Quadro NVS280), equivalent
to the GeForce4 MX400 (GeForce2 core) will get bought and it'll be the
first thing I replace.
