Old versions of Weatherbug insalled 'Gator' - which most definitely IS spyware.

Modern versions claim not to do that.  Weatherbug most definitely does track
information about you and sends it back to base - they claim they need that
info in order to be able to do what Weatherbug does.   That seems a little
unlikely to me.

xv is pretty good for viewing images - or you can just use the browser.
