Here is my experience.
The house I live in gives very "spotty" cell phone reception.
I get interference on both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz cordless
phones as I walk about the house.
I put off trying Wireless for a long time because of this.
I finally couldn't resist any longer and bought a Linksys
DSL 54G Wireless Router. All of the Desktop machines
in the same room worked fine. What I really wanted the
Wireless for was the laptop. I had to buy a Linksys PCMCIA
card for that. Some people prefer the Orinoco Silver or
Gold cards or others. Best Buy doesn't carry those.
More about why Best Buy is important later.
The first card I got was the 802.11b because it was a
PCMCIA card. It worked fine but the response was
noticeable slower than wired. I thought, what the heck,
and got the external Linksys USB2.0 54g for the laptop.
This had trouble working in the same room. I then tried a
Linksys USB2.0 802.11b on the laptop. This worked
about as well as the cell and cordless phones, ok in some
spots and not in others and had the same speed as the
PCMCIA card. I really tried it because it had little
antenna on it where the PCMCIA does not. I tried the
longer antenna on the DSL 54G Wireless Router.
No help. I then gave up.
Here is the real information. I bought all this at Best Buy.
I took it all back and got all my money back. Can't beat that.
Thanks!, Best Buy.
I would encourage anyone to try Wireless. It is the Future.
It works great for most people. I will try it again when I move.
Thanks,
Robert Pearson

That's what I wanted to hear! Thanks, everyone! I'm going to give it a
try.
