you're right, it is not a good thing, from a security point of
view; fortunately, mine's behind a corporate firewall so it does
have a little extra security. since the earlier linuxes have
trouble maintining a true uptime, here's what mysql status tells me:
Uptime: 773 days 4 hours 14 min 46 sec
one of these days i'll update it, but i've got a perl script that
depends on cups and the newer versions of cups won't allow
writing to a file:// uri; until i can figure how to fix that,
i'll leave it as and enjoy my "bad thing" *g*.
