Hi Wayne.

Yes, there was a lawsuit.  MS lost.  They are allowed to ship there JVM,
version 1.1.8 for another year or so, as well as any patches they care to
make.  As you noticed, however, the MS version of that JVM is badly busted.
I should also mention that 1.1.8 is about 8 years old.

Some OEMs are starting to ship Sun's current Java, 1.4, with their machines.
But you might want to ask why you are being taught obsolete technology.
Many, MANY, <B>MANY</b> enhancements have been added to Java since the
days of Java 1.1 (many places call the current version a descendent of
Java2, based on the enhancements for Java 1.2).
