Can you paste the "cc" line and the first 5-10 lines of the error messages? 
We might be able to do it from there.

I also like the kernel sources answer.  Are you sure you have them installed? 
  Not all distros do that by default.  To test, do:

ls /usr/src/linux/include/asm

and you should get a good sized list of *.h files.  If you don't, you need to 
install your kernel source package.  (just checking the obvious :-)
