[NTLUG:Discuss] *&^%$#@!! sound card

My Dell Latitude CPi has the NeoMagic 256 AV card in it, and running
sndconfig, I can see the driver for it.  BUT... it is very "staticy",
which the the online how-tos say indicates a conflict between 8 and 16
bit sound.  I have tried to get the generic soundblaster driver to work,
but as sndconfig checks the setup, a ton of errors is the output.

Am I SOL where the sound is concerned????

On another note - the PCMCIA is being persnikkety as well.... need help
for that too.
