[NTLUG:Discuss] USB Linux Printer & Email Password

This may be a repeat message.  The first one does not show as sent.
 
My Lexmark X75 printer connects to the PC with a USB cable.  The computer has Red Hat Linux 9.  The printer setup seems to be right, but when attempting to print a test page, nothing happens.  A document created with OpenOffice and saved, goes to the print que, but does not print.  It is not clear what to do to fix this.
 
The computer connects to the Internet well.  Email does not.  A message prepared with Evolution does not go out.  A error message comes on saying the correct password has not been entered.  I tried the user and the root passwords, but they do not work.  I do not find a place to specifiy a special password for email to use in sending or receiving.  When I enter a password when ready to send, it offers the choice to save the password.  Still the message does not go. Have not found an explanation in three books.  A;; generalities at that point.
 
If you understand the problems and solutions, please advise me on how to make it work.
