I installed an ATI all-in-wonder Radeon 7500 agp video card.
As a video card it runs fine w/ SuSE 8.2.
When I try to run xawtv I get the following transcript:
-------------------------------------------------------------
/home/stevem/Linux> xawtv
This is xawtv-3.85, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.20-4GB-athlon)
can't open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l2: open /dev/video0: No such device
v4l: open /dev/video0: No such device
no video grabber device available
--------------------------------------------------------------
Also,
/home/stevem/Linux> lsmod
Module Size Used by Not tainted
snd-pcm-oss 50144 0 (autoclean)
snd-mixer-oss 15704 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss]
videodev 6176 0 (autoclean)
usbserial 19580 0 (autoclean) (unused)
parport_pc 28200 1 (autoclean)
< but no tuner > ????
and
/home/stevem/Linux> modprobe videodev <-- returns nothing
---
Do I need to create a mount point for /dev/video0?
The bttv-howto also mentions editting the /etc/modules.conf
file, but doesn't provide much information. Also talks about
recompiling the kernel.
does anyone know how to get xawtv to work?
thanks,
-steve
