their general changes to the linux software have been
published. With these changes, people have been able
to patch in 48bit ide addressing so the TiVo Linux
Kernel can support > 137Gig drives... things like that.
The video portion of the file system ( MFS ) is not
under the GPL and is propietary to TiVo. It's not
ext2 or anything like it... it was written from
scratch and they haven't released that part.
The service ( $12.95 per month ) gives you 2 weeks
worth of TV Guild Info and lets you do stuff like
"Record all action movies with Bruce Willis"
or
"Record all movies directed by Mel Brooks"
or
"Record all first run ( new ) tv shows with
NASCAR in the descrition"
etc. this is part of the montly service.
