Local universities usually have continuing education classes that you
can take in the evening and weekends and are not too expensive that will
give a good into.  I used to teach some of the courses at UTA, but I
moved back to Dallas.  They aren't too bad for helping someone get
started and get the basics down.  Some also offer more advanced
courses.  If you want to spend money, there are a lot of training
centers in the DFW area.
