Thanks Chris, I didnt know the details.
Do you know if Slack will run all software for Redhat? I think the problems come in with the directory structure of Redhat vs other Linux directory structures.

Sure. Main issue is memory. Need to have at least 64M nowadays (but with slack you can
get by with much less).
Avoid gnome/kde and if you can avoid X11. If you have to use X11, use something
lighter weight like IceWM (if you like a full-tilt window manager that's light
weight)... obviously there are other light weight wm choices as well.
