Right now we're seeing 802.11B equipment dropping in price and being 
superseded by 802.11G, which is good news for us bargain hunters that 
don't need any more than 11 megabits per second.

I'm in research mode too and am in the market for reasonably priced 
802.11B wireless bridge(s).  
Anyone see any deals out there, (like something less than $100 per copy), ?

Security is same on both.  It sucks, but only sucks as far as the RF 
goes.  It would be kind-of like leaving a bunch of cat-5 cables hanging 
out the window of your building [hooked to a conventional network hub] 
with a sign on 'em saying "Hook up to my network and try it out".

They usually boast about 350' or so on a stock system, but that would be 
without obstructions or clear line-of-site from transceiver to transceiver.
The devices appear to run  somewhere between 50 to 100 miliwatts RF output.
