[NTLUG:Discuss] Anyone here use Gentoo?

Howdy,
   I have Gentoo running on one box.  I have noticed that the machine is 
noticably more responsive.  It sure was a lot more trouble to set up.  To 
get the basic OS and tools running was OK.  But I frequently have troubles 
when I add programs.  I'll do the emerge and get a message about config 
files that need to be modified and there is no clue as to which config 
file.  I have about decided to reformat and install Mandrake because I want 
multimeda on that machine and Mandrake seems to be the best ne for that 
purpose(if you use the PLF)
