I had an old Compaq similar to this.  The Compaq proprietary Virge/GX
in the things stinks... I think I was able to install though (might of
been just simple VGA though).  I think I installed SuSE 7.3.  Tried to
replace it with a TNT2 Vanta... no dice.  The PCI bus isn't very
compliant on it.

Didn't even make a descent boat anchor (one of the slowest
P233 ... mine was a P233... I've ever seen).

I have a Compaq Presario P166 that runs circles around it (doesn't
have quite as much of the Compaq proprietary nonsense in it).

And oh yes.... while I'm on the subject... does Compaq support
Linux?  They say yes... I'll tell you the real answer is NO.
(doesn't mean they don't make some nice platforms that work
with Linux... just means you're pretty much on your own).

(I know... I'm whining.  It just brought back some bad memories.)
