I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "Tried CPAN?".  I spent over 
two hours looking for answers before I posted my question, and CPAN 
was one of the MANY sites that I visited.  

I did finally find an answer this afternoon, but only after using
an advanced Google groups search and finding a single post that said
"The answer is here: <http....>" followed by a bad url.  Trial and
error got me in the vicinity and then I found it.

Keep it in mind when you consider moving to Apache 2 and mod_perl 2.
