Glad to hear it! (I'm sure you are too!) ;)

I don't know why SuSE would've said snd-emu10k1.  Maybe they were intending 
to add a line like:
alias snd-emu10k1 emu10k1

which would also have made it work (aliases expand as far as they can).  
BTW, you can probably find where all this stuff gets called in 
/etc/rc.d/init.d/sound.  It looks like SuSE is trying to work with a couple 
of different potential init scripts here:  the Redhat & Mandrake default is 
to go through and modprobe any sound-slot-x.  I'm guessing that some other 
version of init scripts tries to modprobe any snd-card-x.  So they take 
care of both in modules.conf by aliasing one name to the other.

Glad you got it working.  TuxRacer and Quake3 are both much more exciting 
with sound! (As is listening to ogg-vorbis files).
