Sometimes its the customers who are the dishonest ones. I once bought a
PCI network card from Fry's. It had that little sticker which indicated
that this particular box was once bought and returned but the contents
had been all verified by Fry's. Well I got it home, opened it up and it
was the same brand nic but, it was an ISA and not PCI. Obviously,
someone had gotten themselves a 'free' upgrade. So, back down to Fry's
for an exchange. When the Fry's returns guy went through the box, he
could not understand what the problem was. "It says 3com on the card and
on the box, it's the right one", he said. Well, now I could see how
Fry's had been so easily duped. I had to do all the usual arm waving,
raise my voice, etc to get them to exchange it. I'll be they just
wrapped it back up and put it right back out on the shelf.
