[NTLUG:Discuss] recording off the Microphone

In addition to the recording program, there is a applet 
called aumix that allows you to select the device(s) that 
will be recorded. (on mandrake 9, but appears to be written 
for OSS). 

I spent a lot of BTU's with unresponsive record buttons 
(that seem to be missing in kde3 !!!) only to find the 
problem was no line in or mic device was enabled for 
record. gRip apparently was overwriting this. (All this 
commentary is based on a mandrake 8.0 load.)
