Ok.. I give up.. how many YEARS does a filesystem have to
be out to be considered "fully tested and accepted".
My guess (and I know I am right) is that ext2 was used by most of
us before it was "fully tested and accepted".
I've been using reiserfs since SuSE 6.4.
I'm not knocking ext2... I use it for small filesystems (since
journaling usually requires 30-35M).
I have certainly seen ext3 do its fair share of "funny" things
in the field.... but if someone is comfortable using it (RH stands
behind ext3 as much as SuSE stands behind reiserfs)... fine!

I agree with your observation on how many were introduced to ext2. However
I think you are failing to see that many were introduced to this as
hobbyists. Believe it or not there are differences between hobbyists and
professional requirements in the areas of computing. This is why I posed
the question in this thread of when to consider a filesystem proven.
