[NTLUG:Discuss] MYSql vs. postgresql

I use MySQL. A good front end for MySQL is MySQL-Front. The only problem
with it is that it is no longer being supported but the current version of
it is great for now. There are also some people talking about re-starting
the development of this product which would, in turn, cause support to start
back of course. There is also a front end for both MySQL and PostgreSQL
built in to Webmin http://www.webmin.com. Migrating should be very simple.
You would just install the server software on the new machine and then copy
the database over.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] MYSql vs. postgresql

Hi guys. My wife and I are considering starting a business and will
need a database. Any recommendations in the Linux realm? What are the
pros and cons of both MYSql and postgresql? How hard are they to
migrate to a different machine when hardware needs upgrading? What
about front end clients for each? Since both are included in my distro
(RH8.0), I would like your input before we begin setting things up.

Also, do you have any recommendations for companies that do web
site/domain hosting and why (why this company as opposed to that
company)?

Thanks again,

Wayne
