don't know if this is nescessary on only 2 computers, try set up the gateway 
to one of your box and asign the gateway ip on other box.
for example. use linux as gw

route add -net 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.1.1 dev eth0
route add default 192.168.1.1

add 192.168.1.1 as getway ip on your Windos box.
