[NTLUG:Discuss] Periodic crashes on Redhat 8.0

Is auto suspend enabled in your BIOS?  I had a similar problem with 8.0. 
  When awakening it would display the screen saver but no cursor.  RH 
Support suggested to disable this in the BIOS and to use Linux's apmd:
