This is what *I* do for dynamic dns.. there may be (doubtless there are)
other ways to do it.. but this is what *I* do.
I went to www.afraid.org and registered a subdomain with them (for
free). I downloaded a perl script they had there and put it in
/usr/local/bin after editing it slightly for my own details. Then I
made an edit in /etc/ip-up (it's all in the perl script what to do.. i
just read the comments) and now I get my ip updated all the time
whenever it changes by @home.. I mean at&t.. I mean comcast...
(whatever).
So now I have a subdomain of whatever.afraid.org (there are other
domains you can pick from as well). You can even use a real domain if
you have one (which I don't) and do pretty much the same thing I guess.
This is what *I* do and I'm happy with it.. I can ssh to my crazy
subdomain name and not worry about whether or not my ip has changed.
Wakarimasu ka?
