[NTLUG:Discuss] firewall, proxy, and VPN

I have a Novell network and two remote sites connected to the Net 
via Road Runner. We only have two PC's at the remote sites and 
about forty at the main office. I would like to set up a VPN.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a Linux-based firewall/proxy 
solution? Several people have recommended E-smith. I have also 
heard of Smoothwall, Shorewall, and a few others.
