I know of ntp and chrony, but there may be others.  I found chrony
fairly easy to set up.  

If you have a network of computers, it's pretty easy to have just one of
your machines, e.g. your firewall, contact the external time server, and
have your other machines get their time from that machine.  That reduces
the strain you put on the external server.
