Well Patrick,
that is not quite the desired outcome (xinit when given an argument
being an absolute path, should execute that rather than the default
xinit script), however it has given you a root xsession.

In the terminal, you chould be able to run the install command for
ximian, or execute your local copy (Wherever you copied it to, possibly
/root/install-ximian.sh).

To jump between your 2 xsessions,  try  Ctrl-Alt-F1  and Ctrl-Alt-F2
(On Redhat and Debian it would be Ctrl-Alt-F7 and Ctrl-Alt-F8 as we
normally have 6 gettys spawned for console logins).
