Looking through the thread, it doesn't look like oyu got this working.
Try running xhost and see what it says. You may also want to try
running xhost +`hostname` or use the FQD.
For instance mine says
[lheath at madhat-laptop ~]$ xhost
access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect
INET:localhost.localdomain
INET:madhat-laptop.unspecific.com
LOCAL:
--
