[NTLUG:Discuss] Re: More about kernel recompiling.

As it turns out, the problem appeared to be a corrupt Reiser file
system. I discovered this after I took my box to the Tucson FUG to
enlist some in-person help. We eventually realized that it must have
been a problem with the file system, and I just decided to wipe
everything out and reinstall Woody with a 2.4.19 kernel, using ext3
instead of Reiser. Since then I've had no problems with modules, and
I've learned that if you want journaling, ext3 appears to be a better
choice than Reiser.

Props to Kyle at TFUG for spending so much time working on my box to try
to figure out what was going on, and thanks to everyone here for
offering your suggestions.
