Thanks Tom, thanks Brian. I think I will look into rolling my own rpm for
perl.
I guess I need perl to be "registered" in the rpm lookup db, if I said
that correctly. There are a huge number of apps that depend on perl, and
whenever I use SuSE's Yast to install/deinstall anything else from now on,
he will complain that perl is not installed, and want me to put it back on.
Thanks for the tip, and the caution about how gross 'rpm hell' can be.
(First I need to put on my asbestos suit, tho, right?  :-)
