Don't know about that drive, I used SCSI QIC tapes on Linux for years--until 
about a year or so ago when I depreciated their use in favor of CDs.  I would 
just tar up dirs/files smaller than the tape capacity.  Or for the really big 
files, do "tar -cMf ..." (read up on the -M flag).
