I have a script that sends an encrypted version of my home IP address
to my work email address every time my DSL PPPoE connection "restarts".
I use "metasend" (on Debian, this is in the metamail package) to
actually send the message.
For those who are interested, I have attached a "generic" version of
the script.
Replace <recipient> with the destination email address.
Replace <sender> with the "From" address you want
Replace <subject> with what you want in the subject line
