Just on the off chance that this may be the problem. have you partitioned
the entire disk? If so remove the partitions in the space where you want to
install Debian. Then see if the Debian install works.

To clarify the problem, the Debian distro seems to be writing over my RedHat
distro. Despite the fact that I have maybe 10 Gigs or more available it
doesn't seem to install into the free space properly. What I'm thinking
about
doing is repartitioning and then trying to load Debian again. Maybe if I
could get some helpful hints on partitioning using fdisk that will help
tremendously!! Also, I am trying to detect and configure my modem to use
dial-up
service and I am having trouble with that also. Anything would be
helpful!!!!
