There seem to have a spate of mailing list spammings recently - I read
somewhere (prob. SlashDot) that SpamBots have gotten clever about dealing
with mailing lists and some of them can even fill in subscription forms
and reply to confirmation messages.

I've had a couple of my lists hit in that way recently - it's a PITA.
