try connecting vnc to the ip address instead of the hostname.  also, 
don't forget to add the server number after the address (usually :1 ) 
after the ip address, without any spaces.

if you have an internal network then you have to have either an entry 
for each computer in your network in your hosts file or run an internal 
DNS for your network.

DNS is what translates hostnames to ip addresses and vice-versa.
