I wish you could corroborate the numbers you spouted here.
2 jobs for every techie looking !?!?!? Get real !!!
What you should be saying is 18 months ago there were 10 jobs
per techie looking, there's about 1 job per 10 techies looking now.
Don't believe? Read the news. Visit a job fair. Attend one of the
networking groups (there's lots of them) around the area.
Personally, I've been OOW since Feb. Can't get any nibbles on my
resume at all. Can't find any hiring managers names. Every one I
know are sitting on pins and needles waiting for their own name to
bubble to the top of the layoff list.
Hiring companies put out a position as a wish list. Like, if we can
find a person with these qualifications with this low amount of
experience then we'll talk to him/her to see if they'll be willing to
work for the small salary we're going to offer.
Such is life in the hi-tech arena.
