that's what the "f" is for:  "ln -s -f /dev/cd0 /dev/cdrom"

Fortunately, you only deleted a driver label - and not the hdd partition.

Maybe a "move to trash can" for users, but root assumes you know what your
doing...  fortunately there are several nice undelete tools out there - see
freshmeat, because "rm" only changes an inode table.

Now, if you had the NSA's secure linux, a "rm" would really be remove.
