A workaround, in case you don't want to open your firewall to passive connections,
is to use an ftp client that isn't braindead like the vanilla ftp client shipped
with most O/Ses.

Try ncftp, which will by default try a passive connection and, failing this,
establish an active connection (which doesn't require an connection established
from client to server on another port).
