[NTLUG:Discuss] Bad URL's send me to me home page?!?

I've been setting up my home firewall/IPmasqerade/HTTP server on static IP with
my own domain name - using SuSE 7.0 and a 2.2.x kernel with Apache - everything
seems to be working nicely except for one oddity.
When I surf the net from a machine inside the firewall, if I enter *any*
bogus URL (http://nonsense.nonsense.org for example), it always takes me
to the home page on my own server. For some URL's, it comes up cleanly
on my home page - for other URL's, it's covered in large yellow rectangles?!?
Less worrying - but also suprising (to me) is that when I try to reach my
site from the outside world, I can get in (as expected) to http://sjbaker.org,
and to http://norbert.sjbaker.org (Norbert is the name of my firewall machine),
but *also* as http://anythingelse.sjbaker.org. This is actually kinda useful
because it means that anyone who tries either sjbaker.org *or* www.sjbaker.org
will find the site.
I'm *totally* mystified.
