YAY!  I'm so glad someone has asked that question!

On freshmeat or sourceforge, if you search for "httpmail" you will find just
such a project.  There is a "proxy" type of method and a "fetchmail" type of
method.  I am using the fetchmail type method.

It's a perl scripted utility and requires a bunch of packages to be
installed... all perl.  None of it is in RPM but I did go about collecting
the whole set of required items to make this thing work... and you know
what?  it WORKS!

If you need more details or assistance, I'd be happy to help!  Actually, I
was thinking of making it into a NTLUG presentation...but I dunno...
