I have been impressed and depressed with RH and Mandrake's HW detection....
YMMV.  In my opinion, SuSE has done a better job of testing things
out before putting them out for consumption.  There are many things
in RH 7.1 and Mandrake (even 8.1) that are still pretty broken (again
YMMV.. depends upon what you install).

RH 6.0 has more holes than swiss cheese... avoid... time to upgrade.
If the machine is on the Internet, won't take long before
being compromised.
