[NTLUG:Discuss] Ethernet Switches

I'm not convinced that the NetGear FS116 switch is really a switch.
The thing that makes me wonder is that it apparently doesn't support
full-duplex. While it's possible that a switch doesn't have to support
full-duplex, every other low-end switch I looked at does support it. It
doesn't say it does full-duplex on the box or in the specs on their web
site. Does anyone know if the FS116 is really a switch? Maybe the only
way to know for sure is to take one apart to see what "switch" device it
uses, and then check that device's specs.
I bought a Hawking PN236ES and have been fully satisfied with its features
and performance.

technical differences between a hub and a switch, it doesn't answer my
original question. What I originally wanted to know is: What should I look
for on the product's box to be sure that the product inside is truly a
switch and not a hub? I imagine it might have something to do with that
"802.<mumble>" comment that was made in a previous post.
