Well if you have perl installed you could setup a custom error page like I did using the errordocs section of your apache httpd.conf for a guide. You could setup the scripts that are being looked for and the create a connection to the remote host and send the appropriate get request. There are quite a few different ways of doing it even if you don't have php installed. How you do it depends entirely on what you do have installed that can handle cgi. You could even do it by creating the pages turning ssi on for those pages which make a request to a shell script that runs and does the get request to the remote computer.
