I haven't seen any recent studies that address Linux vs. Windows filesystem
performance, and those I had seen were a few years old, so they probably
aren't relevant anymore.

One thing to keep in mind when doing the performance comparisons is which
filesystems you will run on the two OSes (for example Ext2 vs ReiserFS or
some other filesystem on Linux, FAT32 vs NTFS on Windows), since the
different filesystems will vary greatly in performance on each OS.

This link has benchmark comparisons for a number of Linux filesystems
running on different versions of Linux:

While this doesn't give you any Linux vs Windows comparisons, it might give
you some insight into how to approach the problem if you want to run your
own benchmarks.  I haven't looked at the mongo and bonnie benchmark source,
so I have no idea how much work would be required to port them to run on
Windows.
