[NTLUG:Discuss] Stupid Suse 7.1 Question

This is based on my experience with SuSE 6.3 (so anyone who has experienced 7.1
feel free to correct me for the latest and greatest scheme.)

If you let SuSE setup LILO for you on a 'non-expert' install, the default option
is 'linux' which is the modular, most up-to-date stable kernal available when
they go to press. Since its the newest, there's a chance that some hardware may
have bugs, so they put a more conservative kernal in the Lilo menu. The 'suse'
option is a more conservative non-modular kernal that will be more likely to
boot if you have marginal hardware. Beyond this, You can boot into your distro
from CD #2 if neither of these work, and do recovery work (CD # 2 of the
official SuSE distro boots into yast.)
